Training
Lab access is restricted, but training is available to University of Florida students, both in the Chemistry Department and outside the department. Please contact Dr. Bailey for more information or fill out the training request form. For DSC user operation, TGA training is also required.
Currently, out-of-department users cannot be granted building keys for afterhours access. Non-chemistry users should be sure to conduct all experimentation during normal weekday business hours (ca. Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm).

To request training, follow these steps:
- To request training, complete the training request form and select the instrument or equipment on which you wish trained.
- Please complete a separate training form for each instrument and/or equipment.
- When requesting DSC training, you will be asked if TGA training is also needed. There is no need to complete 2 forms for both TGA and DSC training.
- If you would like TGA-MS training, please select the TGA option. You will then be asked if you need TGA only training or MS (aka, Residual Gas Analyzer, RGA) only training, or both TGA and MS training.
- If you would like non-instrument training (e.g., spin coater, plasma generator, etc.), please select the Equipment training option. This will then bring you to the secondary equipment training menu.
- You will received an automated email receipt for your training request.
- The instrument manager will contact you to schedule training.
- Please anticipate 30-60 minute trainings.
- If you requested TGA and/or DSC training you will ALSO received a booking email for scheduling your training(s). This email contains a link requesting your availability for training. For faster scheduling, provide as much general availability as possible.
- Once you have been trained, please contact Dr. Bailey for lab access and permission updates, including instrument reservation calendar access.
