Welcome to the Polymer Chemistry Characterization Lab (PCCL)! Located in the University of Florida Department of Chemistry, the facility was dedicated in the summer of 2007 and is a largely student-managed center. Under the direction of Drs. Brent Sumerlin and Laura Bailey, members of the Butler Polymer Research Laboratory get hands-on experience maintaining and operating instruments for polymer analysis.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive polymeric analysis and education. We host a variety of instrumentation useful in the chromatographic, spectral, thermal, and/or mechanical characterization of polymeric or other macromolecular compounds. We are dedicated to hands-on education. Each instrument is maintained by chemistry graduate students. These students learn instrument care, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting. In addition to managers, general users, undergraduate and graduate students can be trained to operate a wide variety of characterization instrumentation or additional equipment useful for polymer synthesis. Check out the lab and equipment available for use here.

Anyone is welcome to submit samples for analysis. A service list is available here.
